Every MahaVastu consultation starts from the floor plan. The zones are drawn on it, the analysis is done on it, and every recommendation refers back to it. Preparing it well is the single most useful thing you can do before a consultation.

A plan marked a few degrees wrong can place a room in the wrong zone entirely.

1. A plan drawn to scale

An architect's drawing is ideal. If you do not have one, a neat hand-drawn plan with the measurements of each room is enough to begin with. Include every floor of the property, and any terrace or basement that is in use.

2. Directions marked correctly

This matters more than anything else. Stand near the centre of the property, away from metal objects and electrical appliances, and take a compass reading. Mark North clearly on the plan. If you are unsure, take the reading twice from slightly different spots.

3. The main entrance

Mark the exact position of the main door, and which way it opens. The entrance zone is one of the first things examined.

4. How each room is used today

Label every room by its current use rather than its intended one: a guest room used as a store, or a study used as a bedroom. Also mark:

  • Toilets and bathrooms
  • The kitchen stove and the sink
  • Overhead and underground water tanks, and any borewell
  • Staircases
  • Where cash, jewellery or important documents are kept

5. Your main concerns

Write down what you would most like to improve: finances, career, relationships, health, or something else. Be specific. This tells the consultant which zones to look at most closely.

Also helpful

  • Total area and number of floors
  • A MahaVastu grid map, if you already have one
  • Photographs or a short video of the property
  • Whether you would prefer an online consultation or a site visit

In short

With a scaled plan, correct directions, the entrance, the current use of each room and your concerns written down, the analysis can begin straight away, and the recommendations will match the space you actually live in.
